The Tourism Quality Seal for hotels and aparta-hotels in the country was launched this week in Chile. The initiative is from the National Tourism Service (Sernatur) and seeks that by 2014 at least 600 establishments have this certification.
One of the objectives of this new certificate is to encourage the quality of the country's tourism providers. According to the National Director of Sernatur, Daniel Pardo, "this measure had an investment of more than US$300,000 ($150 million Chilean pesos)."
The official explained that it is intended to "motivate Chileans and tourists who visit us to prefer services that have the Tourism Quality Seal."
To date there are 389 hotels in Chile with a Q Seal of Tourist Quality, most of them are medium and small companies.
"The call is for service providers to join this effort to make our country a more competitive nation, in which in addition to offering unforgettable experiences to tourists, we deliver security, confidence and quality in the services provided," Daniel Pardo emphasized.
The goal that this South American country has for 2014 is to receive more than four million tourists, so this type of measures are being implemented to guarantee a better bill in the commercialization of services, with a view to making tourists want to return.
