A total of 260 employees from the hotel sector in Panama received certification in ServSafe and Management Leader Ship Program as part of the Training for the quality of tourism service program, which has been developed by the Panamanian Hotel Association (Apatel) in conjunction with the National Institute of Vocational Training and Training for Human Development (Inadeh).
The program was dictated by representatives of the Hotel Association and the American Restaurant Association. The contents helped to optimize and strengthen the training of the human resources of Panamanian hotels and contributed to the objective proposed by the guild to advance along with international quality standards in terms of customer service.
Both Apatel and Inadeh reported that in the last three years they have developed more than 1,600 courses in tourism and hospitality, with which some 31,000 professionals and employees of the hotel sector have benefited.
"Each attendee received the update and training in planning, organization, execution and leadership necessary in order to achieve optimal performance in tourist care and quality of care in the lodging service," as explained by both agencies in a press release.
During the delivery of the certificate, a cooperation agreement was signed between the two organizations and the Panama Hotel School, which seeks to support the promotion and development of human talent and professional training.
At the event, Sara Pardo, president of the hotel guild expressed her satisfaction with the achievement of this initiative and referred to the training of people who work in hotels as a priority issue to strengthen tourism in that country.
Panama City is expected to close 2013 with a total capacity of 17,392 rooms.
