Recently, Deputy Fernanda Antonijevic, president of the Ecology and Environment Commission of the Chamber of Deputies of the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, presented a proposal consisting of the implementation of a plan for the separation of waste from origin to be implemented by all public buildings of the provincial administration.
According to the official, the idea is to promote the separation of waste from garbage and thus reach a responsible and sustainable management of domestic waste of an institutional type.
"This type of waste is of great volume because of the large number of people working in the public sector," he said.
In addition, Antonijevic explained that it is very important that the Executive Branch "immediately implement a separation plan at source in all buildings of both centralized and decentralized administration, since they are large generators of recyclable waste."
The official complemented by affirming that the State must assume the responsibility of generating awareness to modify the customs of the population in relation to the management of waste and thus make the law go from saying to doing and not be "a merely declarative statement."
In this way, the principles and objectives on which the integral management of municipal solid waste is based are complied with, clearly explained throughout articles 3 and 4 of Law 13,592 on Integral Management of MSW, of Argentina.
