Although it is important to carry out simulations of reaction to earthquakes periodically and seeking a good understanding of the procedure, it should be noted that it is not enough. This was stated by the earthquake expert, Julio Kuroiwa.
According to Kuroiwa, interviewed by RPP Noticias de Perú, there is a document designed by the World Bank and the Government of Japan, which was developed after the earthquake that that country experienced in 2011 and there are evidenced lessons obtained because of the natural tragedy.
"The document is quite broad and was discussed last November. One of the basic points is to respect the structural measures in the constructions and bet on them. For example, building dams to deal with tsunamis and buildings more resistant to earthquakes."
The expert indicated that it is good practice to promote the drills, but it is essential that people take them seriously, "not doing so could bring serious consequences when a disaster is foreseen. A good idea is to include universities in these actions and have training from the academy in this regard, "he said.
