In the holiday season, the costs of the energy bill usually rise suspiciously. The Christmas lights, the little tree and the preparation of sweets and viands typical of the time are the main responsible.
Therefore, before decorating the space either for work or residence and preparing the celebration, we must think of alternatives that allow to reduce or balance the costs that this will entail.
As recommended by FPL Vice President of Marketing and Communications Tim Fitzpatric, there are some decisions that can help achieve that goal.
- Decorate the office, the plant and the company in general with LED technology lights. These consume much less energy than a normal bulb and last up to ten times longer.
- Acquire timer systems for the lights, which are adjustable and automatic. They can be programmed to turn off at a certain time, for example, when everyone has already gone home. In this way the luminaire will turn off when necessary.
- Not only for Christmas, but for any time of the year, it is advisable to change traditional lights for compact fluorescent light bulbs, with which you can save up to US $ 50 in energy consumption costs.
- It is advisable to turn off the lights that are not being used.
- If you are going to cook a delicious Christmas dinner you should use glass or ceramic containers for the oven, as these heat up faster than metal and you can adjust the temperature to 25 degrees less.
A final recommendation is to look for electronic devices that indicate greater energy efficiency on their labels.
