Recently, the first Expoexcelencia meeting was held in Madrid, organized by BSI. In this first edition, we talked about how companies can achieve excellence through certification in Risk Management.
"The most difficult thing to achieve excellence is continuous execution, habit and integration throughout the organization. Today we have seen, through exhibitions and case studies, that a good management system is clearly a path to excellence. Its certification and audits finally guarantee that excellence is not only a temporary project, but also a continuous and improvable process, always", said Marcio Viegas, Managing Director of BSI Iberia, during his speech.
In addition, the prevailing need to be at the forefront of technology was evident, especially when it comes to security equipment.
This was made known by Luis Diez, head of Quality at the National Institute of Communication Technologies (INTECO), "investing in security has a double reward, on the one hand the risk is reduced, avoiding exposure to threats that can cause serious losses due to their strong impact, and on the other hand, an ISMS correctly implemented and integrated in the organization provides an important competitive advantage and added value for the business".
The meeting was attended by renowned companies in the control area such as Accenture, Colt Technology Services, Maxam, and Johnson Controls, among others. All presented their experience in the field of certification: ISO/IEC 27001 for Information Security, ISO 22301 for Business Continuity, ISO 9001 for Quality Management and OHSAS 18001 for Occupational Safety.
Both speakers and attendees of the event concluded that any organization is subject to internal and external threats, and taking that as a basis it should be noted that certification is, more than an expense, a long-term investment, with a quantifiable return in terms of the added value it represents to the business, in aspects such as the improvement of quality of its services, the increase in customer confidence, the improvement of the image and reputation of the brand and the distinction it brings in the market against competitors.
