A joint work between the companies TFM and Despi Ingeniería, and in collaboration with the Photovoltaic Nanostructures Research Group of the Institut de Ciències Fotòniques (ICFO), has resulted in a project aimed at improving the energy efficiency of buildings and optimizing their maintenance and operation costs, applicable to any building in any country. This is ECOBuilding.
The initiative seeks to develop a new photovoltaic component that can be applied in the construction sector and that facilitates the conversion of energy (light-electricity) and thus be integrable in the facades of buildings.
The ideal is that this component improves the energy performance of buildings but without lowering the quality of interior light. In this way it will be possible to avoid the excessive use of artificial light.
ECOBuilding is co-financed by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness of Barcelona, through the INNPACTO program, which promotes public-private collaboration in R&D&I projects to promote innovation, private investment, job creation and technological development.
The financing of the INNPACTO program consists of subsidized loans of up to 95% of the approved budget, with a maximum repayment term of 8 years and 2 years of grace period.
The presentation of guarantees will only be necessary when the loan per beneficiary and year is greater than 250,000 euros. The Public R&D Centers are financed directly by the Ministry, with a subsidy and a Reimbursable Advance.
The sectors of interest are: Food, agriculture and fisheries, environment and eco-innovation, energy; security and defence; construction, spatial planning and cultural heritage; tourism; transport and aerospace, industrial sectors, pharmaceuticals; health, biotechnology; energy and climate change, telecommunications and the information society, nanoscience and nanotechnology, new materials and new industrial processes.
