Energy consumption in the NH Hotel Group has been reduced by 23% in the last four years thanks to its Strategic Environmental Plan 2008–2012. The measures that have led it to such positive results have been rigorously implemented.
Within the plan, actions aimed at reducing the company's energy consumption are conceived, such as the replacement of halogen luminaires with LED luminaires, which, at the same time, reduces CO2 emissions and does not deteriorate the quality of lighting.
The Plan already operates in the company's establishments internationally where the luminaire system has been replaced by LED technology in the reception areas, bar, parking lots, restaurants and corridors of rooms, among other spaces where the change was considered strategic.
According to the company's spokeswoman Mónica Chao, the Department of Environment and Engineering of NH Hoteles has carried out a study for the replacement of luminaires in areas with the use of artificial light more than 12 hours a day and with which we have obtained an energy saving of 75%, as well as a recovery of investment in less than 12 months.
The implementation of LED technology is part of the Group's Relamping Project, which involved, in a first phase, the change of up to one million conventional bulbs for others of low consumption.
