Latin America. Bosch Security Systems began providing Building Information Modeling (BIM) files for its product range as of October 1, 2015. The Building Information System (BIM) is a method used for digital planning, design, construction and operation of buildings and infrastructures in a virtual space.
With Building Information Modeling all construction data is digitized on the network. This greatly facilitates the planning of a building project by the participants of a construction project. If a change is made to one of the project planners in BIM, the alterations are immediately visible to everyone from the design team, prime contractor and subcontractors to the owner or operator, as all teams share the same data and work from a single shared 3D model. When a modification is made to any section of the building, the effects on all other sections are calculated and displayed in real time; complete building and construction data is updated and aligned immediately.
Modifications to the floor plan, for example, can change in the number of video cameras needed for monitoring a building. If the changes are made with BIM, the number of video cameras needed will automatically adjust to the modified plant. This way all project partners will immediately see the effect that the modification has on the overall planning and the total budget. This helps to greatly simplify the workflow and alignment of all the professional teams involved, shortening the planning phase and reducing costs.
Bosch Security Systems supports Building Information Modeling by providing architects, designers, engineers and contractors with free BIM files, starting with Bosch IP video cameras. This data will allow to simulate the field of view of a 3D model camera, which improves the efficiency of the design in the planning of a security solution
From 1 October 2015, the first BIM files for Bosch IP video cameras will be made available. Bosch will gradually expand its BIM file offering to include other products, such as smoke detectors.
Bosch will offer its first BIM files in ARF (Autodesk Revit) format for free download from the Bosch website in www.boschsecurity.com/BIM.
