International. Philips Lighting and the Department of Social Welfare of the City of Valencia, Spain, collaborate to provide efficient lighting based on LED technology to the Santiago Apóstol School, located in the Cabañal neighborhood of Valencia.
The renovation of the lighting system of the classrooms will improve lighting levels and comfort avoiding annoying brightness while providing energy savings of 48% in your lighting.
At the same time, the new luminaires installed provide a high quality light that will help to enhance the study and the tasks carried out in the classrooms. The replacement of the luminaires has been possible thanks to the donation of the materials by Philips Lighting, the selfless collaboration of the volunteers of the Elecnor Foundation, which has installed them in record time and the participation of the leading distribution company of electrical equipment in the AME area.
Parallel to the replacement of the lighting of the Santiago Apóstol center, the students of second and third grade of primary school participated in an educational talk on the principles of light, the importance of energy efficiency and the possibilities offered by new connected lighting technologies. Through a series of practical workshops, the students were able to experiment and see how light influences the day to day, improving school performance or incorporating color.
At the same time, under the LEDucación concept, the students learned the different lighting technologies, past and present, and how they have been improving energy efficiency and quality. Playing with light and color they have discovered the importance of quality light when it comes to seeing the world in its true color.
Currently, access to energy and new efficient lighting technologies is a problematic issue for many Spanish households. Completing the energy awareness action carried out in the center, Philips Lighting has donated 300 LED bulbs for the most needy families linked to this educational center of the Cabañal de Valencia.
