In building security, size does matter

Colombia. Four new discrete camera models were introduced, including the P1254, with a mini bullet sensor unit, and the P1264 with the pinhole sensor unit, both for effective internal surveillance.

The modular camera concept, created by Axis in the video surveillance market, involves the division of the camera into two parts for greater installation flexibility: on one side it is a sensor unit (compressed lens and an image sensor) connected by a cable to a main unit, which houses the processor and connectors. Therefore, small sensor units can be installed discreetly or in places with limited space, while the main unit can be placed in another environment, where there is space.

The new AXIS P12 camera has a small main unit and two sensor options: one in bullet format, ideal for discreet and fast installation, on walls and ceilings, and the other with pinhole sensor, for even greater discretion.

Both AXIS P1254 and AXIS P1264 deliver videos in 720p HDTV. Compared to the previous model, the new cameras have a smaller main unit, and offer sharper images even in low light conditions or variable lighting, a better ability to use video analytics and at competitive prices. The cameras also support Zipstream compression technology, to reduce bandwidth and storage requirements, as well as a memory card slot (for local storage of recordings). Both are fed through PoE.

"We are improving the cost-benefit ratio of discrete and high-performance surveillance equipment. Axis launched the first modular network camera in 2012, and thanks to this concept, we have been able to develop smaller and more affordable units. This is evidenced  by Axis' smaller mini bullet and pinole modular cameras," said Peter Rietz, global product manager at Axis Communications.
