The President of Marriot International, Ed Fuller, announced that the chain will open seven new hotels in India with 1561 rooms in 2009; currently the brand has about 130 thousand rooms worldwide. The new Marriott hotels will represent three of the six hotel brands managed by the chain: JW Marriott Hotel Bangalore, 320 rooms, Pune Marriott Hotel & Convention Center, 426 rooms, Courtyard by Marriott Gurgaon, 199 rooms, Courtyard by Marriott West Pune, 153 rooms, Courtyard by Marriott Hyderabad, 193 rooms, Courtyard by Marriott Ahmadabad, 164 rooms and Courtyard by Marriott Mumbai International Airport, 299 rooms.
This activity will require approximately 2000 employees in the different areas of marketing and operation for the seven new establishments in the coming months.
