For this year, Riu Hotels & Resorts plans to continue with its expansion projects, among which is the opening of four establishments in the medium and short term in different regions. In Latin America, the first of these hotels with 716 rooms will be the Riu Esmerald Bay in Mazatlan, Mexico, which will be ready by May of this year. The Riu Guanacaste will open in November as the first establishment of the chain in Costa Rica, and next year (2010) there will be the Riu Varadero, which will mean the return of the group to Cuba.
