Florida East Coast Realty (FECR) along with Sonesta International Hotels Corporation announced the addition of the Sonesta Mikado hotel in Miami, Florida, to the luxurious Sonesta Collection hotel properties.The hotel will be located in downtown Miami's arts and entertainment district and will offer an urban cultural variety with four-star services and amenities. The inauguration is expected to take place in the open of 2011.
This property will feature 40 mixed-use floors, which will house luxury offices and residences, a full-service luxury restaurant, swim-up bar, and grill. 14,000 square feet will be earmarked for meeting and banquet halls, fitness center and spa, the 12th floor will feature an indoor pool with a view of downtown and the Port of Miami.
The Zyscovich architectural firm was inspired by a modern Asian style to focus on design and the name Sonesta Mikado comes from El Mikado, the famous opera by the Japanese Gilbert and Sullivan.
