Thanks to the World Cup and the Olympic Games, Brazil is in the sights of the hotel sector.
Such is the case that InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), which manages 4300 hotels in one hundred countries and 73 in the Latin region, predicts that by 2020 it will increase from 13 to 63 hotels in Brazil, especially of the Holiday Inn brand. This group also plans to open the Intercontinental luxury brand in different Latin American cities.
Accor will also invest US$663 million to open 75 hotels in Latin America during 2010 and 2012, most of which will be located in Brazil.
The hotel boom in this country is growing: this year 16 establishments will be inaugurated and for 2017 300 new hotels with 70 thousand rooms are projected. In total, US$8,627 million will be invested in the hotel project in Brazil.
