A tourist complex will be built in the archaeological zone of Chichen Itza according to a project of the Government of Yucatan, Mexico, and the private sector.The idea is to build 12 hotels and other attractions that would join the Palace of the Mayan Civilization, a tourist and cultural development that is currently being built in this area, which is a World Heritage Site since 1988.
Ivonne Ortega, governor of Yucatan, explained that the Palace of the Mayan Civilization will be located on an area of 364 hectares, which will be a museum about the Mayan culture.
As for the tourist complex, it is in the project phase, but already has the endorsement of the System for the Financing of development of the State of Yucatan. This complex will be made up of five-star establishments, a convention center, beaches, water parks, spas, artificial lakes, cabins, golf course and shopping centers.
