STR, the market research firm for the hospitality industry, revealed the winners of the 2011 STR Best Performing Hotel Award that recognizes the best performing hotels in the United States during 2010.
The winners were chosen based on a number of criteria, including parameters such as occupancy, ADR and RevPAR comparing 2010 vs 2009. The 2010 performance was also compared to the Market Scale performance of each property, as well as its percentage variation.
The award was given to one hotel in each of the chain's seven segments:
* Luxury segment: Fairmont Heritage Place Ghirardelli Square (San Francisco, California).
* High Luxury Segment: Joie De Vivre Ventana Inn (Big Sur, California).
* High-level segment: Residence Inn St. Petersburg (Florida) Treasure Island.
* Upper-mid-range segment: Holiday Inn Santa Monica Beach (California)-At The Pier.
* Standard segment: Quality Suites Oceanfront Jacksonville Beach (Florida).
* Economic segment: Days Inn Chicago (Illinois).
* Independent Segment (photo): The Setai (Miami Beach, Florida).
"It is a great honor for me to recognize the best performing properties in the hospitality industry during 2010. As long as each manager strives to be the best in their competitive environment, or even in their market, each of these properties will demonstrate the ability to succeed on a level far above their peers. Since the main criterion for the selection of these hotels was their RevPAR index, they clearly illustrated the advantages of maximizing both occupancy and room price ratio to their market in these difficult times," said Randy Smith, president and co-founder of STR.
