A new hotel initiative was recently announced in the Colombian capital. With the partnership of W Hotels Worldwide and Terranum Hotels, it is expected to begin the construction of the establishment in the town of Usaquén north of the city and planned to be inaugurated in 2014.
The hotel will be part of a major mixed-use complex, which will include office space, luxury shopping and hospitality services.
"We are thrilled to extend our partnership with Terranum Hotels to launch the W brand in Colombia," said Osvaldo Librizzi, co-president of the Americas at Starwood Hotels & Resorts, owner of the W brand.
According to the executive, Bogotá has become one of the strongest and most solid economic centers in the region. "It is widely recognized for being at the forefront of the fashion and music industry, as well as for its fantastic dining options and historical importance in Latin America," she said.
The design of the hotel will be inspired by the legend of El Dorado and will be in charge of the New York firm Gaia. Color, light and texture will be used in combination with the concept of the Colombian landscape, to give vividness and glamour to the structure.
The establishment will have 148 rooms, 20 suites and an extreme wow suite (the presidential suite). The lobby is inspired by the lobby lounge concept with a restaurant bar and a spa of the Away brand.
In addition, it will have a gym that will cover 276 square meters, conference rooms, meeting rooms and a large room for events superior in capacity.
