Colombia. An investment of 20 billion pesos (US$10 million) was needed to build the Biohotel Organic Suites, an ecological hotel north of Bogotá, capital of Colombia, which will open its doors on February 26.
The building, which self-generates much of its consumption with the use of solar energy and reusable water, is currently in the process of obtaining LEED certification and in addition to its ecological vocation, it is designed as a hotel for the corporate sector.
The property has an event center, restaurant, three bars, wet area, laundry, gym, among other amenities. In total, there are seven floors with 72 suites built of non-polluting materials.
In the medium term, it is expected that the 5-year research carried out to choose the best technologies and systems that made this real estate development possible, will be used for the construction of hotels of the same characteristics in Colombian destinations such as San Andrés, Barranquilla and Ibague.
