International. Mitsubishi Electric won the tender for the supply of air conditioning equipment for the Glòries Tower refurbishment project owned by Merlin Properties, a Spanish leader in the real estate sector. It is the second time that the Japanese multinational supplies the air conditioning equipment of this emblematic building in Barcelona, being the first in 2003 with the construction of the same.
The project will provide the building with innovative characteristics in all fields and especially in the field of energy consumption. The use of systems of the highest energy efficiency contributes decisively to a sustainable energy model for its environment. This will allow you to qualify for LEED GOLD and BREEAM certifications, which reward the most efficient and environmentally friendly designs.
The reform project mainly contemplates the energy efficiency of the tower, which will maintain its current appearance and the characteristic lights of the façade. It has a power of 1,300 kW in air conditioning, through a VRF system (variable refrigerant flow) with heat recovery and evaporation temperature control.
The project has been carried out by Ingenibo and the project management of the work is in charge of Albion Management, companies with proven experience in works of this type. For its part, Engie will be the company responsible for executing the installations of the entire building.
Mitsubishi Electric appreciates the confidence shown in the brand to air condition this emblematic building.
