Colombia. 23 years ago there were architecture firms in the Colombian market, but there was no solid company that dealt with the design and construction of interiors. This situation was the propitious scenario for Juliana Fernández and Marta Gallo, founding partners of AEI Arquitectura e Interiores, to join their interests, ideals and experience, betting on the development of the design of offices and corporate spaces in the country.
These women entrepreneurs have already created more than 500 projects not only in Colombia but also in the United States, Central and South America, they have a presence of offices in Miami, Ecuador and Panama, where they have always taken their talent hand in hand with the latest trends in design.
Spaces of companies such as Alpina, Johnson & Johnson, Coca-Cola and the Ibero-American Development Bank (IDB) are a good example of this. In addition, several of his projects have received important awards such as the International Property Awards for the offices of Globant, 3M and Microsoft, the IIDA (International Interior Design Award) for the Anglo Colombian College and the Colombian Architecture Biennial for Cemex, among others.
Marta and Juliana have managed to develop a portfolio that constitutes a comprehensive service for the co-creation of spaces according to the needs of customers. This allows them, in addition to reflecting the culture and identity of each organization, to increase the rates of productivity and belonging to organizations. To achieve this, they use tools such as diagnosis, decoration, moving, change management and even the sustainability of the spaces to be intervened.
"We have shown that our design is world-class and that we are able to take it anywhere in the world. We also want to continue expanding our coverage in different sectors," says Juliana Fernández. Thanks to this projection, today AEI has experience in commercial spaces, student residences, schools, hotels, architecture, among others.
Part of that world-class design has to do with leadership in sustainable construction, as AEI Arquitectura e Interiores was the first company to bring to the country the LEED certification, which ensures compliance with sustainability and energy efficiency standards, as well as the WELL certification, which guarantees that the space works for the health and well-being of the occupants. "Architecture is the opportunity to turn desired elements into existing ones. It's the opportunity to impact people's lives through spaces," adds Juliana.
The great dream of two architects with a lot of desire to work and do things well 22 years ago, has become today a team of more than 200 collaborators who are determined to improve the quality of life by creating and reinventing spaces.
Among the challenges involved in developing this project was the construction and use of different shapes and materials, which were raised to generate an innovative design based on a different concept that seeks to highlight nature and biophilia in all its aspects.
