Argentina. The new building of Coca-Cola de Argentina, located in Vedia at 4000, in the neighborhood of Saavedra, received the LEED Platinum (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) certification, the highest distinction of construction projects that demonstrate a commitment to sustainability by meeting the highest standards of performance in energy efficiency and low impact on the environment from the construction of its foundations and during its subsequent use.
In this way, it was consecrated as the most sustainable project and committed to the environment of the country after certifying with the highest score (91/100 points), which also positioned it among the 4 best scores out of a total of 40 projects between Argentina, Chile and Brazil.
Construction under LEED standards also implies benefits such as savings in operating costs and greater efficiency in operation and maintenance, increased productivity and the health of its occupants.
The Coca-Cola building is a construction of 15,000 m2, with 14 floors and open work spaces that houses the team of the local operation and is also the regional headquarters for the authorities of the Southern Cone business unit.
In terms of sustainability, the terrace stands out, which has solar panels that generate 3% of the energy consumed by the building.
In this line, natural light and presence sensors and automated curtain systems were also installed with the aim of maximizing the use of natural light.
Likewise, the building has spaces with a vegetated surface with native species, which allow not only to absorb a large part of the rainwater, but also to slow down the water runoff, which is directed to a water recovery tank of 70,000 liters of capacity where it enters a filtering process and then be incorporated back into the building for discharges in bathrooms, for irrigation and for the use of cooling towers. In this way, all rainwater is reused inside the building preventing it from being transferred to the rainwater network of the City of Buenos Aires.
In addition to this, the building was designed with a 100% open-space philosophy, which promotes collaborative teamwork, integration between areas and agility in the execution of projects in an innovative, optimistic and creative way, in line with the new work culture of the Company.
In total, the work represented an investment of US $ 50 million and was part of the $ 1,000 million plan that Coca-Cola executed in the period 2016-2018 in Argentina.
