According to a study conducted among Hotels.com users,
In response, more than 16% have consumed the products without paying for them
60% of Spaniards consider hotel minibars to be a scam, according to a study* carried out among users of Hotels.com. Perhaps for this reason, more than 16% decide to return the move to the hotel and have deceived the hotels, replacing the products with cheaper ones or deceiving the weight control system. On the other hand, it is surprising that a high 77% declare themselves users of this service, spending about 20 euros on average, and that only 20% have never consumed anything. In any case, the preference of half of Spaniards is to buy the products outside the hotel.
If we make a differentiation by autonomous communities, the Catalans confirm the topic of being the most "savers" since most (more than 30%) do not spend more than 8 euros on average. On the opposite side of the scale, Andalusians are the ones who spend the most, 33% claim to have used an average of 21 to 30 euros in the service. As for the people of Madrid, 73% confess to being a regular of this practice and 30% affirm that they spend between 11 and 20 euros.
What men don't want women Some of the most curious facts that this latest study by Hotels.com has revealed is that the differences between men and women are irreconcilable. For example, women prefer to eat chocolate bars (almost 40% of women consume them) and men remain faithful to their good friend beer and other alcoholic beverages (almost 70%). However, the big winner on both sides is still the bottle of water tying with 70% in both cases.

On the other hand we find a series of products that all Spaniards would like to find in a minibar. The cult of the body continues to gain followers, as shown by these data, as we find at the top of the list of most desired products healthy snacks, chosen by 61.7% of respondents, low calorie soft drinks, with 45.5%, and massage oil, with 27.9%.
Unusual offers Every day we find more innovative, different and even rare products in the minibars of the hotels. For example, guests of the Dylan Hotel, a five-star hotel located in Dublin, can find a "Kama Sutra Kit" that includes a feather, a pink mask and natural oils. And it is not the only hotel that has decided to adopt this new trend, the Catalina Hotel, in Miami, offers the service of "Pimp my Fridge" or cool my fridge, which allows guests to customize the minibar. For a romantic evening the star is the "Get it On Minibar" which includes a CD by Barry White, to set the hotel room, edible body paint, a bottle of champagne and cream.
The Hotels.com survey has revealed that 44% of Spaniards like to have a small snack before going to bed. That is why some hotels have chosen to create the "Happy Hour" in the minibars of their rooms, such is the case of the Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel in Knightsbridge, where guests receive a 30% discount on all their purchases after 22 hours.
the director of communication of Hotels.com, Alison Couper comments that tourists are always tempted by the products of minibars: "Travelers from all over the world often find the products available in minibars irresistible, however our study reveals that due to the times they must strive to save more than ever during their holidays. Sites like Hotels.com currently offer discounts of up to 50%, making this time the perfect opportunity to travel."
