The newsroom of the Corripio Communications Group, from the Dominican Republic and which houses the professionals of the trilogy of print media Hoy, El Nacional and El Día, was subjected to a complete restructuring in order to bring together in a single healthy and comfortable space all the human resources of the newsroom.
With the new design, harmony, modernity, comfort and a sense of calm were achieved. According to Eduardo Lora Bermúdez, architect responsible for the design, modern technologies were included that would allow an anti-seismic building to be achieved and, at the same time, rationally take advantage of energy.
"We have a ventilated façade, that is, an air chamber between the old walls and the new building", it is an area around the existing building that contains a metal structure covered with aluminum, which allows to create a chamber that prevents heat from reaching the new building, explains the architect.
Likewise, the exterior façade is covered with a composite aluminum material that does not allow contaminating elements or dirt to adhere to it. That material reacts with the atmosphere and is automatically cleaned with rain.
With this new installation, the expert assures that they have achieved savings ranging between 40 and 60% of energy, since as the sun does not hit directly on the walls it is not necessary to use air conditioning equipment. Complementing this, an alucin roof was applied, which has four thermal insulation adverts.
The interior design is open and illuminated, with low-voltage luminaires to decrease energy consumption. The cubicles of the employees are divided by glass with acoustic insulation, which allow to give the feeling of unity of work and buy the same space respecting privacy.
