Inspired by a deep respect for nature, starting this summer at The Ritz-Carlton, Cancun, begins the important collaboration of Kanan-Ak – guardian of the turtle in the Mayan language – who guides the participants who voluntarily are part of this program. Hotel guests have the opportunity to discover one of the destination's best-kept secrets, by being in direct contact with animal life in its natural state. Every year, the hotel's wide beach becomes a sanctuary where Sea Turtles flock to make their nests. In order to preserve this wonderful species, the resort has a Tortuguero Course and an ecological conservation program that invites visitors to live the rewarding experience of helping turtles. "In 14 years we have protected around 661 nests and released more than 83,905 baby turtles. Guests who have had the opportunity to be part of our Tortuguero Course return home with priceless memories of their stay with us. We are sure that the participation of the Kanan-Ak will captivate and surprise our visitors who will live an exceptional encounter with nature" said Luis Marcó, general manager of the hotel.
