During the second half of 2009, there were administrative and executive changes at InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG). Jorge Apaez, who has served as Director of Marketing for Latin America and Area President for Mexico, now holds the position of Vice President of Operations for North America for the Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express brands, in addition to maintaining his position for Mexico.
The Vice President of Operations for North America for the Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express brands must provide leadership, strategic direction, operational support and the service platform to maximize the performance of these two brands in the United States and Canada, and is responsible for achieving occupancy, rates and quality goals, as well as maintaining close business communication with franchisees.
Jim Abrahamson is IHG's President for the Americas and a member of the group's Executive Committee. As President for the Americas, Jim is responsible for the management, growth and return on investment of the region, comprising the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America.
