An increase in profits close to 26% reported the chain InterContinental Hotels Group. According to data provided by the company, last year its operating income went from US$444 in 2010 to US$559 million in 2011.
In addition to the above, the hotel group revealed the figures corresponding to its total turnover, which was US$1,768 million for an increase of 9% compared to last year. According to the chain, the United States and Asia were the markets responsible for leading the increase in the company's profits.
In the case of the United States, it reported a growth of 7.9% in the RevPar of its properties, while China presented a rate 10.7% higher than in 2011.
For their part, Marriott hotels also presented their financial results, although with a less positive outlook. In their case, net income reached US$198 million in 2011, presenting a decrease of 57% compared to 2010, the year in which they reported revenues of US$458 million.
Despite the above, the hotel company says it expects positive results for 2012, as reported by the specialized portal Hosteltour.
