The virtual community specialized in tourism, Tripadvisor, presented the international Travellers Choice 2012 awards. The Cuban hotel Paradisus Río de Oro Resort and Spa, was selected as the best in the Five Star category.
According to the National Information Agency (AIN), this establishment occupies the fifth position in a list of 25 hotels in the Caribbean, as an all-inclusive holiday resort. It is located in the province of Holguín and has, according to more than 1,970 voters, a high level of service.
This hotel is part of the Spanish chain Meliá. It offers 354 rooms and is immersed in the Bahía de Naranjo Natural Park located in Playa Esmeralda.
But this is not the only Cuban hotel that is part of the ranking of the best according to the Travellers Choice 2012: the Iberostar Grand Hotel Trinidad, which is located in the sancti spiritus province, and the Meliá Buena Vista, in Villa Clara, are also part of the best in the hotel offer on the island.
With this recognition, Cuba is closer to its goal of attracting about three million tourists this year, a figure quite close to reality if one takes into account that in 2011 the island received 2.7 million visitors. The tourism industry has become the second most important in Cuba in terms of contributing foreign exchange to the national economy.
