As reported on its Facebook fan page by the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS), a total of 428 hotel companies owe that entity about US$2 million (¢942 million).
As indicated in the statement, in which the director of Collections of the CCSS, Luis Diego Calderón, pronounces, the companies are located in different parts of the country and some of them "have already been sent an administrative collection notice."
The official also details that "they have been invited to make payment adjustments and those whose debt exceeds three months, have already passed to judicial collection."
About half of the total debt is borne by only ten establishments, which were exposed by the CCSS in its public wall of the massive social network.
The company that owes the most money to the Caja is La Condesa Hotel S.A. with US$194,000 (more than ¢94 million).
