For their good management of water resources, several hotels in Mexico City were recognized with the Hydro Sustainable Hotel Distinction granted by the Alliance for Water Sustainability in Tourism.
The properties recognized for their commitment to the environment were the NH Centro Histórico Hotel, Melia Mexico Reforma Hotel, Fiesta Inn Insurgentes y Viaducto, Hotel City Express EBC-Reforma, Hotel City Express Reforma el Ángel, Hotel City Express Buenavista, Hotel Holiday Inn México Plaza Universidad and Hotel Holiday Inn México Coyoacán.
Among the factors that were taken into account to grant this recognition, stand out, for example, that hotels implemented environmental policies, had water-saving products in bathrooms and public areas, took advantage of rainwater, and promoted ecological practices by staff.
The Alliance for Sustainability also announced its intention to hold a second act of recognition that would include hotels in destinations such as Quintana Roo, Campeche, Chiapas, Oaxaca, Tabasco and Yucatan.
In fact, hotels interested in applying for the badge can register until August 15 on the website http://www.fundacionhelvex.org.
