An 8.5% increase in occupancy in cancun hotel establishments; this was reported by the executive director of the Hotel Association of that city (AHC), Marissa Setién.
This positive figure was recorded during the first quarter of 2012 and it is expected that at the end of the semester the upward trend will continue. The association has more than 100 associated establishments, which means a total of 34,188 available rooms.
As explained by the representative of the AHC, the hotel industry in Cancun is going through a good time: between January and June it presented an occupancy of 72.5%, and according to Setién, the accumulated until July 29 was 83%, a very positive figure if you take into account the variety of adverse situations that Mexico has had to go through in recent months.
The executive comments that one of the reasons to enjoy such a good moment in the hotel industry is the excellent air connectivity of the Cancun International Airport, "this is the result of the promotion actions and joint negotiations carried out by the Cancun Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Government of the State of Quintana Roo and Southeast Airports (ASUR)".
