Nearly US$12 million has been invested by the energy management company, Schneider Electric, to carry out the expansion works of its plant located in Sant Boi, Barcelona.
The work was inaugurated a few days ago in the presence of the president of the Generalitat, Artur Mas and the executive vice president of operations of the company, Julio Rodríguez.
The project covered a total of 58,000 square meters, becoming the largest headquarters in the world belonging to the company. There operate 325 employees and only in the previous year had a turnover of more than US $ 600 million.
From this plant it is expected to meet the needs of about four million annual orders for all of Europe, Asia, the Middle East and South America, in the markets of infrastructure, electricity companies, industry and machinery manufacturers, automation and management of buildings, data processing centers and networks, as well as in the residential sector.
According to a statement issued by the company, the executive vice president of operations of Schneider Electric, "Barcelona is no longer only the decision-making core of Schneider Electric in almost the whole world, but also logistics."
The executive added that "from Sant Boi a monthly stock valued at 70 million euros (about US$85 million) will be handled."
