Colombia. The National Administrative Department of Statistics (Dane) recently revealed the housing construction report for the month of November, and it was revealed that housing financing (FIVI) so far in 2014, until September, presented an increase of 4.1% in the value of loans granted for housing compared to the same period of the previous year.
Loans for new housing registered an increase of 10.3%, in contrast to used housing decreased 2%. Similarly, the monthly report indicated that during the third quarter of 2014 there was a decrease of 17.3% compared to the same period in 2013, when loans were disbursed for $2,285,041 million current pesos (US$1,035.4 million).
Construction trends in the country have shown an important change, as figures from the Dane building census reveal that in the second quarter of 2014, the office segment reported a growth of 54%, compared to the same period of the previous year and that this dynamism was marked mainly by the behavior of cities such as Bogotá and Barranquilla.
That is why experts in the sector believe that the market presents enormous business opportunities for builders who arrive with alternatives adjusted to the corporate segment in intermediate cities such as Bucaramanga, Ibagué, Villavicencio, Pereira, Manizales, Yopal, Valledupar and Montería.
