International. It is no secret to anyone that the level of energy consumption is one of the main concerns of large companies in their quest to have more efficient buildings, reduce their environmental impact and, especially, save costs.
In that sense, case studies of the measures implemented by other companies to optimize their consumption are always an important source of knowledge. According to information revealed by the company ISS Facility Services, the measures applied in different branches of a prominent financial institution allowed a reduction of 30% with respect to general energy consumption and a 35% saving during the night hours of said company.
To reach this result, experts from the ISS Maintenance Division carried out quarterly consumption reports for a year on the main sources of expenditure, such as air conditioning, lighting and electrical equipment, through monitoring equipment, to later make a series of recommendations to modify consumption patterns depending on the day of the week and the time slot.
For example, the monitoring exposed the existence of an excessive consumption of the different resources during the weekends, when the company had practically no type of activity.
After the intervention of ISS, the daily consumption of the financial institution went to 20 kWh per day on average. This was reflected in a saving of close to 23% in the cost of electricity bills compared to previous years.
