Latin America. With an increase of 370% compared to 2013, Latin America consolidated last year as the region with the highest growth in the use of solar energy. This is stated in a study published by Green Tech Media (GTM) in which it points out that in 2014 the region generated 625 megawatts (MW) by this means.
In addition to the above, the Report highlights that the number of projects in the region reaches 514 and the amount invested in them is close to 26 billion dollars, with Chile being the country with the greatest commitment to this type of initiative.
The southern country has invested more than 7 billion dollars in the development of renewable energy projects in the last 7 years.
"With its strong market for large-scale services, Chile led the region in PV installations in 2014, accounting for more than three-quarters of Latin America's total. In the fourth quarter, Chile installed twice the amount of Latin America's annual total in 2013," the report said.
