Colombia. This week the US Green Building Council (USGBC) announced the LEED Silver certification of the office buildings of two large companies in Colombia: the Coca-Cola headquarters in Bogotá and the Alpina Building, located in the nearby municipality of Sopó.
The company Arquitectura e Interiores, specialized in the creation of corporate spaces, was in charge of the design and advice so that these two companies became greener.
"Achieving the Silver seal in both cases, represents the responsibility that these companies have with the environment since in their facilities they have achieved important savings in water, energy and waste reduction," said spokesmen for Architecture and Interiors in a statement.
It is worth remembering that for a building to be considered sustainable by the USGBC, it must meet several characteristics classified by environmental categories, including: water savings, energy efficiency, materials, indoor air quality, innovation in the design process, and regional priorities.
Once the specifications at the level of materials and technical aspects comply with international parameters of environmental regulations, it is possible to obtain certification. Coca-Cola and Alpina join other certified projects in the country such as the offices of Argos, Bavaria, ANH and 3M.
