Colombia. The event "Construye Sostenible Medellín" held by the Colombian Council for Sustainable Construction (CCCS) last Wednesday, March 25, brought together different actors from the city to discuss the future of sustainable construction initiatives in the city and the need for greater commitment by government entities in this regard.
In this event of the Colombian Council of Sustainable Construction (CCCS), he also shared with the audience the most recent advances in public policies at the national and local level, and their impact on the development of the market for sustainable solutions in terms of materials, corporate projects and housing solutions.
The scheduled talks included a presentation by Cristina Gamboa, executive director of the CCCS, on the State of Sustainable Construction in Colombia, a technical update on LEED version 4 by Miguel Orejuela, Director of Education of the CCCS and a detailed conference on the experience of the new corporate headquarters of Isagén in Medellín by Edgar Porras, Project Manager of that company.
In statements to BUILDING MANAGEMENT, Gamboa highlighted the importance of the private sector encouraging sustainable construction and explained that "as a country we are still debating the cultural change that means having a greater involvement of the public sector in projects and policies that promote sustainable construction, especially on the issue of how to verify this type of projects."
"To the extent that this point is resolved, we will then be able to give and accompany the projects with this series of incentives that do not necessarily have to be monetary," Gamboa added.
