Chile. The real estate company Manquehue announced a new development plan focused on improving the operational efficiency of the company, which will lead it to invest about US$800 million in the next 5 years. Fabián Wulf, general manager of Manquehue, explained that in 2015 alone they expect to start three to four new projects in order to reach sales close to US$185 million.
To achieve this, US$35 million will be allocated for the purchase of land and US$135 million for the execution of works in 2015 alone, for a total investment of US$170 million.
"On average our sales are in the range of US$242,000, although 70% of them are in the US$283,000 segment, which is where we want to concentrate, especially in Santiago, where we lead. That level allows us to maintain or improve margins because that segment is more permeable to rising prices as a reaction to rising costs," the official explained.
Wulf also explained that one of the strategies of his development plan is to directly assume several of the processes related to the design and architecture stages, in order to solve in advance issues that may affect the properties later generating cost overruns.
