Colombia. According to a study conducted by Colliers International, by 2018 in Colombia there would be more than 3 million 400 thousand square meters of commercial spaces, 50% more than the figure registered to date. This growth trend is in line with what is expected in the Latin American market, because according to the ICSC (National Council of Shopping Centers) in the next 10 years the average square meters in shopping centers per 100 inhabitants will go from 10.8 to 16.
"Although in the last year the economic situation in Latin America has suffered due to external shocks that have affected the growth of the countries of the region, including the low demand for commodities and the fall in the price of oil, Colombia continues as one of the best performing economies in South America. This is precisely one of the aspects that has pushed commercial buildings to expand in Colombia," said Roberto Cáceres, General Manager of Colliers International Colombia.
