Colombia. The World Council for Sustainable Construction, World Green Building Council (WorldGBC), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the government of France, together with other organizations, will hold the first "Buildings Day" within the framework of the Climate Change Summit - COP 21, this Thursday, December 3, 2015 in Paris.
This meeting is a unique opportunity to establish an unprecedented alliance of organizations that are committed to working to include the construction industry as one of the industries that can help keep global warming below 2ºC (the safety limit set internationally in climate change), align initiatives, existing commitments and programs to have greater impact and efficiency and, to be the catalyst for closer collaboration and thus articulate sectoral and transversal climate change actions, through comprehensive solutions for all.
According to Cristina Gamboa, Executive Director of the Colombian Council for Sustainable Construction (CCCS) "The goals on housing and cities in the NATIONALLY Determined Contribution of the INDC and the sustainable construction policies adopted by the Ministry of Housing in 2015 mark a milestone by recognizing sustainable construction as a meritorious best practice of support from the State, as a sign and guarantee that green markets in the construction industry are here to stay."
"These public policies of a national nature will reinforce those processes of formulation of policies and incentives for sustainable construction underway in cities such as Bogotá, Medellín and Barranquilla," Gamboa added.
