Security competitiveness in Latin America strengthened thanks to WINGS and UL alliance

Latin America. In an increasingly competitive market, companies in the security industry need to assure their customers that their goods and services are of the highest quality and this is achieved through compliance with certification standards and norms. Thanks to the recently signed agreement between the Latin American Safety Association and UL, the industry's access to this type of certification will increase.

ALAS and UL joined forces to develop standards and certification programs in safety products, systems and services for the Latin American market, including conducting market research to assess and quantify the need for standards and certification programs and initiating a new standards development project.

UL, the global safety science company with 120 years of experience in the development of standards, testing and product certification, consolidates its presence in Latin America with the collaboration agreement with ALAS.

"The importance of the relationship with WINGS signifies UL's commitment to continue investing in the security market in Latin America, helping to facilitate standards and certification programs for products, systems and services tailored to market needs," said Neil Lakomiak, Director of Business Development at UL, which today has facilities in 44 countries. Argentina, Brazil and Mexico being the Latin American countries where they have a presence.

The interest of ALAS, the organization that brings together companies in the Security industry in Latin America and the Caribbean, is to expand the access of the Latin American industry to certification, validation, testing, inspection, audit, advice and training services in which UL is a world leader and which can be used by manufacturers, retailers, regulators, service companies and even end consumers.

Alberto Álvarez, CEO of ALAS, believes that this alliance "mixes alas' deep knowledge of the Latino market with UL's experience in the growing need for industry certification, which will lead to improved quality and efficiency in both products and systems and services and will help suppliers and users achieve higher levels of reliability in their systems, an indispensable feature to compete in the global market".

This alliance will allow individuals and organizations in the security industry easy access to the more than 1500 current safety standards published by the UL family of companies.

"We chose to collaborate with WINGS because we have shared values of driving innovation and promoting security, as well as the impact of working more closely with the security industry at a time when the complexity in the supply chain and the pace of technology renewal has grown." Neil Lakomiak concluded.
