Cuba.
Varadero, the most important tourist pole of sun and beach in Cuba, ends 2015 with the opening of the five-star Ocean Vista Azul, a hotel operated by the Spanish chain H-10 and the Cuban group Gaviota, the one with the highest growth in accommodation capacity in recent years on the Caribbean island.
With 470 rooms and a lobby that gives an excellent view of the ocean, if something distinguished its construction was the possibility of replacing imports with productions of the Cuban national industry, among which a good part of the furniture stands out, said Luazny Fernández, a member of the team that built the work.
He acknowledged that despite the late entry of some resources, in 21 months they were able to conclude an investment that could begin just in the tourist boom season, just as had been agreed.
Luazny Fernández said that for 2016 they foresee the completion of Conchas 1, adjacent to the one that has just been completed, of more than 800 rooms, and the second highest of the also called Playa Azul, since its 12 levels will only be surpassed by the 14 of the Blau Varadero. According to Hosteltur, a Spanish digital publication, with the opening of the Ocean Vista Azul, H-10 Hotels is consolidated in the country, where it had already established the Ocean Varadero El Patriarca, and the H10 Habana Panorama, in addition to another planned to open at the beginning of 2016, the Ocean Casa del Mar, a five-star resort located in Cayo Santa María.
The chain concentrates in Cuba half of the six facilities it operates in the Caribbean region, since the other two are located in Riviera Maya, Mexico, and the last one in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Varadero, which exceeds fifty hotels, counted for the eighth consecutive year the figure of one million foreign visitors who choose it as a leisure destination, in 2015 where, according to recent statistics, it set a historical record with one million 342 thousand vacationers, much more than the arrival of one million 202 thousand of the previous period.
