Mexico. The construction of the civil airport of Ciudad Ixtepec, scheduled to enter into operation in 2017, presents an important advance. The objective in this originally military air terminal is to expand and condition its infrastructure for civil aviation operations.
The airport has a strategic geographical and commercial location, so the business sector expects it to contribute significantly to the social and productive growth of this important region.
Nestled on land in three municipalities: San Blas Atempa, Asunción Ixtaltepec and Juchitán de Zaragoza, the airport platform is 95 percent ahead, as well as other areas.
However, there is still work to be done, as they are still in the stage of construction of the parking lot, installation of the power lines and the modernization of the 21 kilometers of access road.
Once this stage is completed, it will correspond to Airports and Auxiliary Services (ASA), who in due course will manage and preserve this air terminal, continue with the work, enable all areas and give the go-ahead for it to start operating.
The state government has announced that there are several airlines interested in operating at the Isthmian airport. This will increase air connectivity to the main tourist attractions of the entity and the country, connecting important national and international destinations, such as Mexico City, Monterrey, Tijuana, the United States and Canada.
