Almost 10 million domestic travelers and 3 million foreigners will contribute to the economic spillover received by the tourism sector this year of 46,471 million pesos, 4.7% more than last year.
In this regard, the Ministry of Tourism has generated a new Hotel Classification System (SCH). The design of the instrument -which includes 50 variables- qualifies the quality and performance of the hotels, the indicators are grouped into five performance axes that we must consider without any impairment:
- The surroundings and reception
- The room
- Food and beverages
- Installations and maintenance
- The comprehensiveness of the service in all areas and services of the hotel
Each of the indicators has a direct relationship with Facility Management, and it is absolutely necessary to raise awareness on this issue to ensure the proportional share between guest experiences.
Facility Management focuses on maintaining and caring for large buildings and facilities in the best condition (from foundations to the roof and everything in between) to provide the best quality and flawless service to its users.
With the growth of tourism in Mexico, a great opportunity is foreseen to start this management and it must begin from the conception of the project and continue until its renovation or demolition, through the maintenance and operation of the building during its useful life.
Facility Management has a special place in those properties that are absolutely necessary for the provision of an industrial service or production: museums, hotels, offices, hospitals, industrial plants, zoos, amusement parks, airports, stadiums, etc.
Nowadays it is not conceivable an efficient hotel company without expert personnel in sales, groups, security, purchases ... and noting the importance of this issue, the organization cannot be considered complete if it does not have the Facility Management that ensures continuity of operation of the facilities and therefore the quality of the service.
In response to this need, the first Facility & Hospitality Management Conference has been created in Mexico, seeking awareness, professional education for the care of any building or facility.
Thinking about the need of buildings and the tourism sector in energy efficiency, construction planning, design and management of spaces, sustainable technologies, partnerships and human factor in maintenance, regulations and regulations, 19 conferences and 4 courses will be presented by the best experts in Latin America.
This is a great step to professionalize and give importance to an element that is fundamental for the growth of the tourism sector.
