Mexican deputies are looking for solutions for the water expenditure of public buildings, for this they intend to reduce consumption by up to 45% by installing devices that help save and reduce the flow of liquid while maintaining the same pressure.
The proposal was presented at the Legislative Palace of San Lázaro by the Drinking Water and Sanitation Commission as a Pilot Plan.
As leader of the initiative is Deputy Oscar Bautista Villegas, who is also secretary of the Commission who indicated that currently the expenditure for water consumption in public buildings in Mexico City is 200,000 Mexican pesos per month, an average of US $ 16,000.
In addition to this plan, Bautista has proposed to allocate the economic resources saved with the new measure to the construction of a plant for the treatment of wastewater in the Legislative Palace of San Lázaro.
The installation of water-saving devices will not cost any and it is expected that in the coming months they can be used in other public agencies that register high consumption, for example, in basic level schools and in institutions of the health sector.
For his part, Deputy Roberto Ruíz Moronatti, explained that the devices are certified by the National Water Commission (Conagua) and the investment executed in these elements can be recovered in less than a year.
"We must give a clear sign that there is a real concern for the issue of water," Moronatti said.
