The use of IP cameras to improve safety on construction sites and monitoring r

altSouth America. The use of IP cameras to improve safety on construction sites and remote monitoring of construction sites has grown in South America and represents an opportunity to reduce losses and offer continuous accountability to customers.

From the point of view of a construction company, it is an opportunity to avoid common problems such as material theft. For that, it is enough to direct a chamber for the deposit and, with a relatively low investment, ensure the preservation of valuable materials for construction sites.

On the side of the future inhabitants of a residential building, for example, the installation of a camera allows to follow the progress of the construction, a benefit highly valued by customers. Network video cameras, or IP cameras, allow remote monitoring with HD or Full HD image quality. This means that it is possible to monitor the progress of a work with a single well-positioned camera, depending on the project, and access the images in high quality from fixed screens or mobile devices anywhere in the world, live. Images can be viewed from multiple accesses, as the cameras feature an internal processor that alleviates network congestion.

As the image quality is high definition, with a few cameras you can cover a large area, it is also possible to record the images in the camera itself through a 64 GB SD card. Other installations include the free Axis Camera Companion software for viewing and managing images from up to 16 cameras, Plug&Play installation technology for quick installation, and the use of PoE switch so that the network cable itself feeds the camera, without the need to use more cables.

"We have seen a growth in the demand for simple solutions from construction companies, often with less than five cameras, but that make a difference to those involved in the project," says Andrei Junqueira, manager of new business development at Axis South America.
