Latin America. Tyco Security Products introduces iSTAR Ultra SE, a special edition of the iSTAR Ultra door controller, which supports up to 32 readers, and combines the features of the iSTAR Ultra with the 'Pro mode' that guarantees flexibility and compatibility with all Software House systems. iSTAR Ultra SE is available in wall mount and rack mount configurations.
When used in "Pro mode", the Ultra SE iSTAR has the same capabilities as the iSTAR Pro and is compatible with the C•CURE 800/8000 and C•CURE 9000 Security and Event Management Systems. In "Ultra mode", advanced encryption and support for wireless locks are activated, which can communicate with C•CURE 9000. The iSTAR Ultra SE incorporates a hardened Linux operating system, for enhanced security and expansion.
iSTAR Ultra SE is compatible with both traditional wired access control doors and wireless lock equipment. It can handle up to 500,000 cardholders in local memory and uses two built-in Gigabit network ports to provide redundant communications to the server. iSTAR Ultra SE also features 256-bit FIPS 140-2 AES network encryption, with custom key management and DoS protection against potential network threats. For clients that require it, dial-up communications to the server are still available.
"The cover letter of iSTAR Ultra SE is its flexibility and compatibility," said Luis Delcampo, Product and Marketing Manager of Tyco Security Products' Access Control line for Latin America. "Whether a project requires a driver with a smaller form factor, an update to a previous Software House driver, or whether or not a project requires the power supply capability for electromagnetic closures, the features of iSTAR Ultra SE cover the requirements of any system."
iSTAR Ultra SE also supports Peer to Peer communications, which means that controllers can communicate with each other without the need for server intervention. Other capabilities of the Ultra SE iSTAR include simplified network installation via DHCP and DNS, integrated intrusion zones, area control, and local and global anti-passback. There is also support for custom keyboard commands, which means that it is possible to trigger events in C•CURE from the same handler, and commands can be configured so that they require the presentation of a card or PIN to validate the execution of the event.
The iSTAR Ultra SE (ICU) configuration tool reduces set-up time by allowing users to view drivers online, change their configuration parameters, and download new firmware from a single user interface. iSTAR Ultra SE is available in wall mount and also rack mount unit configuration, reducing space requirements and installation costs of a wall panel.
