Colombia. Axis Communications announced the launch of its first audio and video solution for outdoor environments: a video surveillance camera to capture conversations and other sounds in the environment, as well as the possibility of being used to project recorded or live messages.
With built-in microphone and speaker to generate two-way audio, AXIS M3037-PVE network camera opens up new possibilities for the use of security cameras in shops, hotels, restaurants, hospitals and educational institutions.
The M3037-PVE also has support for Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) to integrate with the IP telephony system, which allows communication through the phone between operators and other people who are located near the camera, without echoing. Moreover, the model is resistant to vandalism and provides a multi-megapixel image quality of panoramic views, or a 360-degree view with 5 megapixels from the ceiling.
At the same time, Axis updated its AXIS Q1775 camera, which now features two-way 48 kHz audio for CD-quality sound capture. This model, designed for monitoring cities and parking lots, is ideal for use with software developed by third parties that are capable of recognizing the sound of gunshots and sending alerts to the central monitoring station. Some programs also allow the identification of screams and explosions thanks to the built-in microphone.
For Sergio Fukushima, technical manager of Axis Communications, these technological developments should change the concept of cameras as simple video surveillance devices. "Cameras with two-way audio capability make it easier for a manager to communicate with his team in a store, for example, thanks to the SIP protocol. They also allow the manager to identify potential mistakes made during customer service and correct them afterwards, as well as create a direct communication channel between control room operators and monitored environments," says the expert.
AXIS M3037-PVE and AXIS Q1775 are now available through Axis distribution channels.
