International. ABB has showcased the future of homes and buildings in a 1,400-square-metre exhibition at the 2016 Light & Building, the largest international event in the building sector in Frankfurt. He has presented the latest solutions for smart homes and buildings, demonstrating how he helps his customers improve energy efficiency, reliability and productivity in all types of buildings.
Through various interactive panels and experiences, ABB demonstrates the capabilities of its most innovative solutions. Among the highlights unveiled for the first time is a new wireless home automation solution, free@home Wireless, which in Spain will be offered from the current range of Residential Solutions Niessen; improvements to the ABB KNX range for building automation; several improvements in entertainment and lighting control; the latest technical design software for building planning, e-Design; and an expanded energy monitoring solution, CMS-700, capable of analyzing data from up to 96 sensors.
Mike Mustapha, CEO of ABB's Building Products division, said we are at the forefront of smart homes and buildings. As pioneers in this area, we are delighted to meet with customers, media and partners to present the solutions of tomorrow that ABB has at your disposal today. We have the ability to demonstrate how the Internet of Things, Services and People enable rapid development in numerous fields to enhance the experience of what our industrial customers can offer in the commercial and industrial building space, as well as the comfort, security and convenience they bring to homes.
Among the most outstanding technologies are:
free@home wireless: The new generation of this smart home solution is the incorporation of a wireless solution that can be used as a standalone solution or together with the wired system. This system controls up to 60 functions of the home and is revolutionary for its easy installation and simple user interface, which opens the possibilities of the smart home to a new range of customers. This product will be available in Europe from this autumn.
A new range of ABB i-bus KNX IP devices: composed of an IP interface and an IP router, can be used in all applications in which KNX interacts with an IP network.
The new ABB i-bus KNX ABA/S 1.2.1 logic controller: a flexible controller that allows system integrators to easily manage the advanced requirements of building systems, with the latest in energy-efficient microcontroller technology and simulation functions.
New ControlTouch KNX app solution: the intuitive and easiest way to control the KNX system using mobile devices.
A new CMS-700 power monitoring system: expands ABB's range of Circuit Monitoring System systems with a new open-core sensor solution that allows data measurement from up to 96 sensors and is compatible with LAN TCP, IP or Modbus RTU protocols.
A new ambient air and CO2 sensor to measure air quality and humidity and adjust the fresh air intake.
PointGrab CogniPoint: A demonstration of an advanced sensor usage solution that enables occupant recognition and tracking in smart home and building applications. ABB Technology Ventures announced its investment in PointGrab in December 2015.
e-Design, ABB's new engineering software suite: this new tool has been developed to meet the needs of professional electricians. e-Design makes it possible to design an electrical system more efficiently.
