Riu, a Spanish hotel chain, inaugurated the first urban hotel in Mexico and the second in Latin America, which is located in the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco, after an investment of US $ 110 million, according to representatives of the firm.
The new establishment has 550 rooms, a penthouse, two restaurants, bar, swimming pool and is more than 100 meters high.
One of the reasons for the investment has to do with the realization of the Pan American Games of Guadalajara 2011, since the hotel will host the referees and judges who will participate in the sports contest, which will be held between October 14 and 30.
Pepe Moreno, representative of the Riu chain, said that in addition to the Pan American Games, the chain has very good expectations with the activities and businesses that are carried out in this city, another reason for the investment.
